Escape the bustling medina of Marrakesh for the day with an invigorating trip to the 110-meter Ouzoud Waterfalls. Located 160 km northeast of Marrakesh,
the journey takes about 2.5 to 3 hours each way.
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Marrakesh and head north into the countryside. The drive takes you through rolling foothills, olive groves, and traditional Berber villages.
The driver will make a brief stop for a restroom, snacks, and morning coffee. As you approach the Middle Atlas, the terrain shifts into a lush, mountainous landscape.
Reach the small village of Ouzoud. A local guide will lead you on a scenic walk down shaded pathways into the gorge. You'll pass through traditional Amazigh flour mills and encounter the resident Barbary macaques (wild monkeys)
Descend to the base of the spectacular multi-tiered waterfalls. Hop into a traditional hand-powered boat for a refreshing, close-up ride in the spray of the waterfalls. You can also take a quick swim in the natural pools below the falls if the weather is warm.
Sit down for lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the waterfalls. Enjoy traditional Moroccan tagines, couscous, and fresh salads, generally priced around 80–120 MAD ($8–$12).
Begin the ascent back up the gorge, stopping at various viewpoints to take photos of the rainbows often hanging above the water. You'll have some free time to shop for local crafts or sip fresh orange juice at the cafes near the top.
Meet your driver for the return trip, leaving the waterfalls behind and driving directly back to Marrakesh.
Arrive back at your hotel or riad in Marrakesh, just in time to freshen up for dinner.
