Escape the Medina for a day in the rugged Agafay stone desert, just 45 minutes (40 km) away. The perfect one-day itinerary combines a morning camel ride and authentic Berber tea, an afternoon of quad biking or relaxing by a desert pool, and a breathtaking sunset dinner.
9:00 AM: Get picked up directly from yourriad in Marrakech in an air-conditioned 4x4 or minivan.
9:45 AM: Arrive at the lunar-like stone landscape of the Agafay Desert. You’ll be greeted by locals with traditional mint tea and Moroccan biscuits at a desert camp.
10:30 AM: Don a traditional nomad turban and embark on a 1 to 1.5-hour guided camel ride across the quiet, arid hills.
12:00 PM: Switch to high gear with an optional 30 to 60-minute quad bike or buggy session through the rugged desert trails (typically 150–300 MAD, payable on-site).
1:30 PM: Enjoy a traditional 3-course Moroccan lunch (such as chicken or lamb tagine) served inside a nomad tent or under the open sky.
3:30 PM: Take a refreshing dip or lounge by the pool at one of the luxury desert camps, or take a scenic drive out to the nearby Lalla Takerkoust Lake to enjoy the waters and views of the surrounding area.
5:30 PM: Stroll around the dry riverbeds and take memorable photographs as the sun begins to dip below the horizon.
7:00 PM: Watch the golden hues of sunset illuminate the Atlas Mountains in the background, followed by a quiet, starlit dinner at a desert camp.
9:00 PM: Your driver will pick you up for the direct drive back to Marrakech, dropping you off safely at your accommodation around 9:45 PM.
