4-Day trip to Merzouga

Morning: Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your accommodation inMarrakechClick to open side panel for more information. Climb the scenic winding roads of the High Atlas Mountains, stopping for panoramas and fresh coffee at the Tizi n'Tichka pass summit (2,260m).

Midday: Descend the eastern slopes to visit Kasbah Aït Benhaddou, a famous UNESCO World Heritage fortified village that has starred in numerous Hollywood blockbusters. Take a guided walking tour through its clay alleyways followed by lunch nearby.

Afternoon: Drive through Ouarzazate and traverse the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, crossing the beautiful Valley of Roses (Kelaat M'gouna) before twisting into the red rock formations of Boumalne Dades.

Evening: Arrive at your traditional riad or hotel directly inside the Dades Gorges. Savor a peaceful Moroccan dinner and relax for the night.

Midday: Continue eastward through changing landscapes, passing through the town of Erfoud—world-famous for its unique fossil excavations—where you will stop for a traditional lunch.

Afternoon: Arrive at the golden desert outpost of Merzouga. Meet your camel caravan, mount up, and trek deep into the Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun sets over the boundless waves of sand.

Evening: Arrive at your secure desert camp. Sip fresh mint tea, enjoy a grand Berber feast, and gather around a roaring campfire for an evening of live drumming and nomadic stargazing.

Morning: Wake up early to witness a breathtaking desert sunrise from the top of a giant sand dune. Return to camp for breakfast and a shower before trekking back (by camel or 4x4) to Merzouga village.

Midday: Begin your journey toward the south-central pre-Saharan valleys. Pass through Rissani, the historical cradle of the Alaouite Dynasty, and travel across the arid stone plains through Alnif, where you will stop for lunch.

Afternoon: Arrive in Nkob, a beautiful Berber oasis village renowned for its striking skyline featuring 45 distinct, well-preserved earthen kasbahs nestled against the dramatic volcanic peaks of the Saghro mountain range.

Evening: Check into a beautifully restored authentic Kasbah hotel. Take a gentle late-afternoon walk through the local palm groves and enjoy a traditional dinner.

Morning: Following breakfast, departure Nkob and drive through the stunning, palm-fringed landscapes of the Draa Valley, home to millions of date palms and historic mud-brick fortresses. Stop in the village of Agdz for photos over the massive palm oasis.

Midday: Head north through Ouarzazate and pause for a relaxed lunch at a mountain-view restaurant along the Atlas pass.
