As you approach the coastal region, keep an eye out for goats climbing into the Argan trees to eat the fruit. You'll make a brief stop to take photos and visit a local Women's Argan Oil Cooperative, where you can see locals manually crack the nuts and learn about Morocco’s famous "liquid gold."

You will arrive at the 18th-century fortified port town, previously known as Mogador. Head straight to the Skala de la Ville (the ancient seaside ramparts made famous by Game of Thrones) to enjoy panoramic, windswept views of the crashing Atlantic Ocean and the medina walls.

Spend the afternoon exploring the relaxed, grid-style medina. Browse local artisan shops for Thuya woodcrafts, jewelry, carpets, and spices. Grab a mint tea in the lively Moulay Hassan Square and watch the world go by.

Take a quiet walk along the wide, sandy Essaouira beach. The coastal winds make it a popular spot for windsurfers, kitesurfers, and camel riders.
